Our Bootcamp Blog

Our blog covers fitness bootcamps, an increasingly popular way to get fit, lose weight and have fun on a 1 week course or a series of training days. We will be looking at fitness boot camps and bootcamp holidays in their diverse forms, and believe me there are many types of bootcamp! From hardcore military fitness training to bridal bootcamps (lose weight fast in time for your wedding) there seems to be something for everybody to motivate them to get fit fast and remain healthier in the long term.

Over the past few years there has been a sharp rise in the number of boot camps on offer. Generally, they are fitness holidays offering serious military-style fitness training outdoors, mud, sweat and tears as a perfect antidote to plush gym culture.

Most holidays offer a mixture of intensities and types of activity to keep you exercising for as much of the week as possible without completely exhausting yourself and putting yourself out of action for the remainder of the day. A range of activities and sports can be very enjoyable, especially if they are things which are outside of your normal range of experience. And that is one of the big draws to a boot camp fitness week – it could be more fun than you have had in a long time!

Teamwork is another important factor and urging each other on really helps to keep going and squeeze a little more energy out of a tired body. Great friendships can be made on an intense week of activity, social interaction plays a large part in the formula. Many people report long term gains in confidence, motivation and self-image, as well as a more positive attitude towards life in general.

But the main thing that brings people to a bootcamp holiday is the desire to get fit quickly, improve their body shape, and often lose weight. Weight loss over the course of a week is commonly 6 to 9lbs, and it is surprising just how quickly your muscles can tone up given the right exercise and diet.
